Before the K-Pop bands with their K-pop songs and K- Pop fashion arrived in our country it all started with Koreanovelas …
For the recent years the Philippine entertainment scene has been dominated by Korean cultural products such as television dramas, Korean Pop Songs (K-pop) and even the Korean Fashion Style.
When the Philippine Television started adopting Koreanovelas there is no doubt that it aimed immense popularity among Filipinos. The koreanovelas caught the attention of Filipinos because it brings something fresh and new in the Philippine T.V.
Usually, Koreanovelas shows late at night, but a lot of Filipinos still love to watch it. I admit that I also love watching koreanovelas because I find the storylines great, the scenes are fantastic, and the characters are amusing. I think this are also the elements that probably what endear Filipino audiences to koreanovelas.

Aside from the novelty of watching, Koreanovelas transport the Filipino to other lands, places they can only imagine or read about. Their Korean landscape, colourful tradition –even the winter looked so inviting.
People who are usually hooked up with koreanovelas are the “Teenage Filipinas” and even the “Not so young Filipinas”, who are “Super Kilig” and can’t help to watch koreanovelas.
Aside from the Dramas, Actors, and Actresses, theme songs are also the things that can’t forget by the Filipino. Koreanovelas often have a theme songs which, of course in Korean language. But Filipino really appreciates it, when it has already a Tagalog version.
But usually they are really made an “Orginal Pinoy Music or OPM” which is sung by our very own singers. And this serves as the “Official Soundtrack/OST”

When the Philippine Television started adapting Koreanovelasthere's no doubt that it gained immense popularity among Filipinos. The Koreanovelas caught the attention of Filipinos because it bring something fresh and new in the Philippine TV. Most of the times the Korean shows are late at night, but many are still watching it. I admit that i also love watching koreanovelas because for me the storylines are great, the scenes are fantastic, and the characters are amusing. Not to mentioned the cute actors that make the Filipino girls go shiver and i feel the same thing. But i'm not that addicted just like the others.

Recently through, Korean Popular Music or K-Pop is the more popular Korean cultural product across the world that also affects the Filipinos and they already love the K-pop music. I'm confused why i often hear sort of Filipinos singing K pop Music and going to a K pop band concert because i assumed that they don't understand Korean language. And that's how I see that there is really a Korean wave in our country. K-Pop groups like coming in the Philippines because they know that they will receive fame and hospitality not just from their fellow Koreans who stays in our country, but also From Filipinos.
In response to the Filipinos growing addiction towards K-Pop, Philippine Music Industry also make their own K-Pop group version. Like "Pop Girls" who followed who followed the concept of K-Pop girl group and "XLR8" A K-Pop male group version in our country. This make a variety of reaction from the Filipino audiences, especially Filipino K- Pop fans. Some have negative reaction about another "copy", while some felt glad about the brave move of the Philippine music industry.
The Filipinos fans not only developed an interest in the Koreanovelas or K-Pop music but also the likeness towards the Korean fashion. This Korean fashion trend exploded among the students who love to be hip and chic and "In" with the new. Even sometimes they may look weird, as long as they tried to imitate the Korean hair,clothing style and shoes.
Because of the attitude of the Filipinos that is easily to be influenced of foreign marketing, the Korean Culture products poses a negative effect on the Philippine entertainment industry since it is a threat to the local entertainment since and to the Filipino identity in its own cultural products. Perhaps the Philippines can learn from Korea in this sense. This nothing wrong if we like things or culture from foreign country but we don't have to forget that we are still Filipinos and we have to support the products (Music, Fashion, Shows) of our country.
